日本への留学生数は、２００８年度、15万人を超える過去最高の水準になりました。
様々な国の留学生たちが日本の風景に溶け込んでいるので、町中ですれ違う人の会話から、不意に外国語が聞こえてきてびっくりしたりします。
留学して勉強する人以外にも、アニメや漫画などの影響や、ビジネス上の必要から、日本語に興味をもって、自国で日本語を勉強する外国人も増えているそうです。日本語を学校で選択科目として学べる国もあるのだとか。
今回は、世界中でどのくらいの人たちが日本語を勉強しているのか。日本に留学している人はどこの国の人が多いのか、ちょっと調べてみました。
